Rap by Edith Belman
(Tigres Del Norte-“Somos Mas Americanos” Intro)
We back to the same issue,
Some the same some new people,
The struggle continues,
but we still here going strong, moving on,
jus cuz we got a couple victories we aint slowing down,
we still pushing to get what we need,
is it wrong that we wanna be an educated society,
uncovering the truth, this all comes down to money,
right?
ignorance and the greed of the wealthy,
pulled by both sides, caught in the middle,
agreeing aint nothing simple,
they make it so hard to satisfy these people,
dragged on all these years by the same mind state political
media influenced misperception,
all we’re after is equal education,
the opportunity to help this economy grow and flourish,
your opinion makes no sense, I just can’t take you serious,
so I laugh, I’m not tryna take what you have
I’m working to get what I rightfully deserve,
I’ll keep my common sense, meanwhile you keep losing yours,
just look at what I’ve done, actions speak louder than words,
damn, I mean whats it gonna take for you to understand?
I don’t relate to Pancho Villa, I only know Uncle Sam,
I’m not betraying my race jus sayin
I’m more American, that’s all I know,
raised in Cali, it was here that my mentality was born
I know stress gets kinda heavy sometimes,
But we still find a way to grind,
Hustling work, not drugs, or anything against the law,
We selling hand made things straight outta the truck of the car,
By any means necessary to get through another day,
We aint taking your job, we work where you don’t wanna for minimum wage,
You can state all your opinions, what’d you have to say that I haven’t heard yet,
Nothing,
you can keep tryna scare me with uniforms,
But I’m not scared you’re threats anymore,
I work hard to get where I’m at,
so I’ll be damned if I let you take me back
where you think I belong,
but this is the only home I know
Struggled for years, I feel you,
We aint blood related but I been in your shoes,
We share the same obstacles that we broke through,
You aint alone in this, there’s many more jus like us,
So don’t give up, push all the negativity to the side, and keep your head up,
I know the sun is kinda hard to find in these dark clouds,
But if we work together we can bring it out,
Talk to me,
I can listen and understand,
If you ever need help jus call out and I can give you a hand,
We all we got, we all fam,
I’m right here, I got your back, so don’t even trip,
The movement still continues, we aint never gonna quit
Until we all have the equal opportunities,
And nobody is left out,
continue to grow in unity,
As we march to a better tomorrow,
We came a long way from where we were at but it over tho,
We gotta take what we have to keep building the path
For those young ones still holding onto dreams,
So they wont have to struggle like we did,
And still do, I’ma make it and I’ma help you,
I believe in all of this,
no matter the circumstance,
We all HAVE A RIGHT TO DREAM!
This is dedicated to Juaquin Luna and all the fallen dreamers,
YOUR DREAM LIVES ON
